| Customer Reviews: My Husband LOVES this February 16, 2010 J. Sullivan (New York, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for my husband for Christmas (he's 33) this year and I think this is the best present I ever got him. He was so excited and plays with it all the time. Took a little while for him to learn to fly, but it was fun, not frustrating for him. It's been pretty durable, he's crashed it a lot into the walls and floor and no pieces have broken off yet (and no markings on the walls either, it's very light). Charges pretty fast and lasts for about 6 minutes which seesm a good ampunt of time, he hasn't complained it's not long enough. Just make sure your floors are swept well because I have long hair that gets everywhere, so sometimes when he crashes on the floor my hair gets caught up in the rotor and he need to cut it out with little baby scissors. Very small, fir in the palm of your hand.
I felt silly buying this, but once he opened it I knew it was a good decision. Would recommend as a gift for any adult male, his brother thought it was cool too.
fun copter February 11, 2010 Ronald E. Wooten (K.C., Mo. USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought 2 of these. 1 for each of my grown sons (22 & 29) and they love them. After you get used to the controls they're alot of fun. It's a blast learning to fly them too. Lots of fun !!
fun toy for any age January 24, 2010 David A. Weilbaecher Jr. 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
one dog leaves the room; the other dog follows it around. the heli shark has held up for a month of light use and many crashes. if i spent more than a few minutes once in a while buzzing around the den, i think i would be able to fly the heli much more accurately.
Much easier to handle than a different model I purchased December 20, 2009 Circusmonkey 20 out of 21 found this review helpful
The local Toys-R-Us had this helicopter on sale for $20. I bought two of them for my 4 1/2 year old son - this model and the model with Amazon ASIN #B002VJKI00. I decided to buy two different models since they were selling for such a great price. With my son as young as he is I thought if one model was too difficult maybe the other one would be easier and if he broke one he'd have a back up and I could hang on to the broken one for parts.
I'm very glad I did that because the red helicopter (with the different body style) is much harder to control than this one. The tail of this model is slightly longer and its total weight is approximately 4 grams lighter at around 12 grams. The overall balance of this model while flying is much more stable and easier to keep from crashing. The extra tail length, even though it's barely longer, adds a bit of smoothness to it's maneuverability. The lighter weight makes it zip up faster and allows for much easier recoveries when you drop too fast.
Keep in mind this is not a fancy helicopter with all the bells and whistles that will enable you to do loops, fly upside down, etc. It is, however, very enjoyable for the very simple things it does. Spending $20 to $30 on this toy is surely worth the money in my opinion.
Notes:
- If you find your helicopter suddenly spins wildly out of control, check the tail rotor for any hair that may have wound its way into it. The tail rotor is simple to remove allowing for the debris to be cleared without much effort.
- Be sure to read the instructions carefully.
- The recommended age for this toy is 8 years and older. For the average kid, I think 6+ would be more accurate.
- I require my son to wear eye protection while operating his helicopters and strongly recommend all parents do the same. IMO, the toy won't cause injury if the blades strike the body but can possibly inflict a serious eye injury.
My son has been enjoying his new helicopter and I plan on buying him at least one or two additional models, as long as he keeps up his good behavior! : )
